COVID-19 measures in place

As we all try to adjust to the rapidly-changing environment we find ourselves in due to the COVID-19 outbreak, many people have questions about what social distancing measures mean for them in relation to specific issues.

Your eye health and concerns may be one of them and you may be confused about whether or not to make or keep appointments with us at Ultimate Eyecare right now.

As of Monday morning, 23 March, State Governments have agreed to align with Federal advice on the range of businesses to be included in this week’s shutdown, and optometry practices in all states and territories are currently able to continue to look after your eye health and vision needs. That might change with short notice and we just have to work through it as we receive the directives.

To help “flatten the curve” we at Ultimate Eyecare will limit our opening hours, appointment durations and type of appointments we make, as directed by the Optometry Association of Australia, State and Federal governments at the time. These limited hours will vary so please phone us for further information.

Symptoms like red eyes, sensitivity to light, painful eyes, sudden changes in vision, flashes and floaters remain eye conditions which may need urgent attention.  Please ring us for advice if you experience any of these.

It is important that we see you if your situation is essential.  If you need to make a routine appointment due to recall, we might book you in later in the year to make sure we don’t forget about it, and to help aid the government in their plan on limiting people movements during this time.

Our phones will always be manned (Monday to Friday 9-1, 2-5).  If we are closed the phones will be diverted to a mobile phone, so please, contact us on 02 65548596 if you have any concerns.

Please note, if you have ANY of these symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of breath

  • Travelled to (including transited through) a country considered to pose a risk of COVID-19 transmission in the 14 days before getting sick

  • Had close contact with someone diagnosed with or suspected of having COVID-19 in the 14 days before getting sick

PLEASE notify us on 0265548596 BEFORE attending your appointment.

Optometrists around the country follow best practice infection control guidelines and like all health professionals in Australia we have elevated these precautions in the current health climate.
